Yesterday me, Mom, and roadster_guy went to the Hungarian Kitchen in Wyandotte for lunch. They’d both had the urge and, despite being sick the previous day, I figured I could stuff down some chicken paprikas. Luckily we went when we did, since yesterday was their last day of business after more than 40 years. The owners had sold the place for presumably a hefty chunk of change, and the whole block of buildings is going to be torn down and replaced by a strip mall. Because we can’t POSSIBLY have enough strip malls, ya know.

Anyway, this place has been a fixture of the downriver area, and one of the few places to get real Hungarian food that we know of, other than in Windsor. Aaron lamented the fact that he’d found out about the place so late, and tried in vain to get the spetzel recipe from the waitress. Guess they’re taking that one to the restaurant grave.

As you can see, the decor isn’t much to write home about, and probably hasn’t changed since they opened.

But the food is, er, WAS, outstanding, and you definitely got enough to fill you up. I didn’t even manage to finish my chicken paprikas.
